TRU introduces our new Speakers Bureau

One of TRU’s primary purposes is to inform and educate the public about the importance of public transportation options.  For years we have given presentations to groups throughout the region about various transit issues.  We now plan to greatly expand that outreach effort.

If you are interested in helping spread the word about public transit, are a good public speaker and can commit to at least two meetings/events per month, consider joining our speakers bureau.  We’ll train you about top transit issues, TRU’s work and our basic presentation.  You’ll work with our current team to prepare and practise your presentations.  Then you’ll go out into the community to educate, inform and involve people about Detroit transit.

Come to the Communications Team meeting on Sept 10 to learn more and come to our Speakers Bureau training on Sept. 24 to start your training.  Check out meetings page for meeting details.  Contact Brandon, TRU SB chair, with questions.

Also, if you’re involved in any community organizations who might be interested in learning more about Detroit transit, contact us to arrange a speaker.  We’ve presented to the Hannan House senior center, the Grosse Pointe League of Women Voters, U of M and Wayne State student groups, a Cooley Law School class, and many others, and we’d love to present to your neighborhood association, civic group, cultural association, or other community group.
