TRU’s Assistant Director Ruth Johnson was asked to present an update on Detroit transit before the Detroit City Council’s Public Health and Safety Committee Monday, January 26 at 10:00am.
We presented an honest evaluation of DDOT progress under Mayor Duggan and Director Dan Dirks, rating their results to date a “C-.” On the plus side, the mayor has made transit a priority and Dan Dirks is working hard to undo decades of underfunding and mismanagement. Yet riders are not yet feeling on-the-ground improvement. It is outrageous that so many buses are late or never arrive!
We also provided City Council members several related documents:
- TRU 2014 Year in Review
- IAP2 Core Values of Public Participation
- IAP2 Spectrum of public participation
As with most City Council sessions, you can watch it on the City Council website.
