Teamwork makes the dream work!

We don’t talk about ourselves all that much. We’re usually too busy thinking, planning, and talking about transit.

But every once in a while, we need to pause and say thank you to the amazing people who do so much of the behind-the-scenes – TRU’s Board of Directors, staff, interns, and top volunteers.

This past weekend, we held our annual leadership planning retreat. Each year, we bring together these diverse minds and voices to explore what’s changed and how we can make our work most impactful. This year of course, we couldn’t physically get together. So these dedicated people spent nearly 7 hours on Zoom to tackle this important work! (That’s some incredible commitment right there!)

TRU staff and interns are only part of the team – we couldn’t do what we do without our amazing Board of Directors. These are some of the great leaders who shape TRU’s mission, vision, priorities, and plans.

Together we tackled tough questions about how transit and TRU have changed during these tumultuous times; how TRU can most effectively respond to these changes; how to increase our internal diversity and become more pro-actively anti-racist; and what TRU can do to better communicate and engage with transit supporters throughout the year.

Just as the Detroit region is always transforming, we strive to be a learning organization and continually adapt and grow to do the most we can to ensure everyone can get where they need to go!

To learn how you can become part of this illustrious team, find out how you can apply to join TRU’s Board of Directors!
