Show Riders and Drivers Some❤️!

The bus drivers we depend on are worth investing in.

Public transit in Detroit is in crisis, with buses not showing up as scheduled. Both DDOT and SMART are short 100 drivers, largely because wages aren’t competitive. DDOT bus drivers start at just $15/hour.

Join TRU, ATU Local 26, Motor City Freedom Riders and other allies in calling on our elected officials to show bus riders and drivers some love and take action to value them both. We’ll rally at the Spirit of Detroit statue and then deliver Valentine’s Day messages to the office of Mayor Duggan and the SMART General Manager.

Please RSVP on Facebook or to Joel @ DetroitTransit.org.

When: Tuesday, February 14, 2023, 9:00am

  • We’ll meet up at 9am for coffee and donuts and get Valentine’s signed
  • At 9:30, we’ll present rider and driver remarks of concerns and solutions
  • Then we’ll deliver Valentine’s messages to Detroit and SMART leaders!

Where: Spirit Plaza near 1 Woodward Avenue, Detroit

  • Near DDOT routes 4, 5, 40, 52, 67.
  • Near SMART routes: 255, 461/462, 563, 620, 635, 805 and 830.
  • Nearby parking garages located at 164 W. Larned St. or 231 Griswold St.

Actions like these are only possible when transit supporters donate to fund TRU’s work.

Please donate today to fund both TRU’s legislative and community efforts in the Detroit area to address this driver shortage!
