2020 was a difficult year, especially for public transit. But it also proved that many things assumed impossible are absolutely achievable: Widespread work from home. Elimination of rush hour traffic. Fare-free transit. Massive federal investment in transit operations.
So why not easy car-free living in the Motor City?
Each January, TRU hosts our State of Transit event. This year, we will both recap the transit challenges and progress of 2020 and look ahead to a brighter future . Come hear from DDOT and SMART leaders about how they kept essential workers riding during an unprecedented pandemic.
Then as vaccination starts, let’s re-imagine what public transit could achieve for our region and explore the first steps to making it reality!
Join us! Thursday, January 28, 2021, 6:00-7:30pm
TRU will present our year-in-review. Transit riders, advocates and transit agency leaders will all share the State of Transit and dreams/plans for the future, including:
- Robert Cramer of SMART
- Mikel Ogelsby for DDOT
- Ben Stupka for RTA
There is no cost for this event and everyone is welcome. However registration is required and Zoom limits participation at 100 attendees. Anyone who is unable to join the Zoom webinar due to size limitations or who misses it can watch on Facebook Live. We will also live Tweet highlights @DetroitTransit.
We also encourage everyone to join or renew your membership with TRU to support transit advocacy year-round!
