Request for Proposals for Advocacy Grants Consultant
Our small advocacy nonprofit is seeking an experienced fund development professional to assist in expanding our organizational capacity through grant seeking. We have received past grants from private, family, and community foundations in the range of $5,000 – $60,000 and hope to apply for more of the same, up to $150,000 range. Some may be joint grants with allied organizations.
Responsibilities will include:
- Some researching of prospective new foundations
- Assisting the Executive Director (ED) in developing program ideas into persuasive descriptions of measurable grant-funding projects
- Writing grant application and LOIs based off of discussions with the ED and examples of previous applications
- Editing grant applications and LOIs
Expectations:
- Required: Demonstrated experience successfully writing grants for advocacy nonprofits for social change activities (not direct service activities)
- Desired: Demonstrated experience writing successful grant applications for small nonprofit organizations (of under $500,000 annual budget)
- Desired: Based in southeast Michigan and/or experience in the metro Detroit area
Proposals: Please submit consultant proposals to Executive Director Megan Owens at [email protected] by March 31 and include:
- Explanation of your advocacy grant experience and other experience as relevant
- Your proposed fee to complete the following over the next 4-6 months:
- ID 10 new prospects (outside current our current list)
- Write 10 LOIs and 5 grant proposals to agreed upon foundation prospects
- Edit 5 grant proposals (or LOIs)
- References from previous successful consultations
- Samples demonstrating your work
