New crisis – No DDOT buses operating today after driver assault

Yesterday, a DDOT driver got assaulted at the Rosa Parks Transit Center.  Union reps report that the assault lasted 15 minutes or more and no one came to the aid of the driver, despite there being full time security at the Center.  Drivers say it was the last straw.  They don’t feel safe going out on the road.

So no DDOT buses are operating this morning!

DDOT staff say they are working to restore service as soon as possible.  Mayor Bing will give a press conference at 10am to respond.  Stay tuned.
