The Michigan House of Representatives recently announced a new subcommittee to focus on public transit, which will be led by transit-champ Rep. Marie Donigan of Royal Oak.

Learn more when Marie hosts a town hall meeting on public transit, with Detroit Regional Mass Transit CEO John Hertel and TRU Director Megan Owens, on Monday, February 26th at 6:30pm at the Royal Oak Senior Center.
State Representative Hoon-Yung Hopgood (D-Taylor), Chair of the House Transportation Committee, said, "Public transportation has been on the back burner in Michigan for far too long, and it’s time for that to change. . . . It’s time we get serious about improving our public transit systems in Southeast Michigan and throughout the state."

"I’m excited to have this opportunity to address this important issue," Donigan said. "Improving public transportation is a key part of our multi-pronged effort to bring jobs and economic development to Michigan. States that have thriving cities also have thriving public transit systems."
