Transit Day at the Capitol 2025 Recap

People all across Michigan want and need more state investment in public transit. So we came together at the State Capitol to demand our legislators provide that critical investment!

Over 100 Transit Supporters Went to Lansing for Transit Day at the Capitol

More than 50 transit riders and allies joined another 50 agency leaders and union staff convening on Lansing March 12 for our 2025 Transit Day at the Capitol. The day was spent meeting with legislators’ offices, hearing from transit providers and policy makers and spreading the message of why increasing funding for public transit is so important.

Transit supporters from all across the state of Michigan sat down for meetings with over 60 legislators from the House and the Senate and their staff. Programming also included remarks from top MDOT leaders and as well as a conversation with Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson at lunch.

Transportation provider agencies from across the state lined their vehicles in front of the state capitol building to show support and educate on the different services they provide. Supporters took to the capitol lawn in the afternoon to hold signs encouraging support for public transit funding.

Transit Day of Action

TRU also called for a day of action from home for those who could not attend in person, encouraging people to make 5 calls to tell policymakers to increase investment in public transit this year.
