Tuesday March 2nd – Action Day to #SaveTransit!

Today, Tuesday, March 2nd, TRU is calling all our members to speak out and help #SaveTransit! Congress will soon be voting on the federal COVID-19 Relief Bill, which currently includes $30 billion dollars for federal transit funding. If passed, these funds would be critical to keeping transit agencies operating into the coming years, despite massive COVID-19 losses.

On Tuesday, TRU strongly encourages our supporters to contact Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow via Action Network and ask them to pass the COVID transit relief package. Include your own message about why saving transit matters to you.

Next week’s #SaveTransit Day of Congressional Action is a critical opportunity for transit supporters across metro Detroit to loudly communicate that transit is an essential service worth investing in. Alongside our national ally groups, TRU wants to ensure the Senate passes $30 billion for transit as a “down-payment” towards full recovery for our communities.

Members can also engage on social media with the hashtags #SaveTransit and #TransitIsEssential. Tweet your Senator and tell their office to support emergency transit funding! Also, check out TRU’s social media channels for #SaveTransit content to share on Tuesday.

Whether you ride transit or not, public transportation remains an essential lifeline to resources, jobs, and a higher quality of life during COVID-19.

Together, we will speak loudly and tell Congress: Pass the Bill and Save Transit!
