TRU Project Manager Job Description

Position Description:

TRU is seeking a well-organized, hard-working person to manage our Senior Mobility Outreach project, improve our communications, and support day-to-day operations of our small, vibrant advocacy organization. Passion for improving transit in greater Detroit a big plus!

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Senior Mobility Outreach Project
    • Coordinate public engagement work of a public relations consultant
    • Provide staff support to the Regional Elder Mobility Alliance
  • Support and improve our print and online communications
    • Coordinate the development, editing, and production of factsheets and policy papers
    • Update, maintain, and maximize our web site and Facebook presence
    • Potentially develop integrated online advocacy campaigns
    • Potentially write fundraising letters and grant applications
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations by reliably providing key administrative functions
    • Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and mail correspondence
    • Manage small and large mailings, independently or by overseeing volunteers
    • Arrange logistics for meetings and events
    • Update and maintain organization records, independently or by overseeing volunteers
    • Facilitate the moving of our office (in summer 2012) with minimal disruption
    • Develop efficient office systems and processes
  • Other responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational skills with a commitment to accuracy and follow through
  • Able to efficiently manage projects independently; a resourceful problem-solver
  • Excellent communications skills, including advocacy writing and some graphic design
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Excellent computer skills; proven proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook, Google Aps and with standard office equipment
  • Work experience with nonprofit advocacy organizations a plus

Details:

  • Full time position: may range from 35-50 hours in any given week
    • Must be available during regular office hours and some evenings and weekends, although regular weekly schedule may be flexible.
  • Salary: $28,000-36,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Benefits include health and dental insurance (after 60 days, with 20% employee contribution), bus passes, and personal leave / vacation time
  • Located in downtown Detroit
