Commuter train preview and Ann Arbor supper club

Heard about the Ann Arbor to Detroit Commuter Rail line?

Never taken the train before?

Want to experience Southeast Michigan current passenger rail service on Amtrak, and learn about future projects, prospects and possiblities?

Join Transportation Riders United (TRU), Detroit Synergy Group and the Sierra Club for a Dinner Train to Ann Arbor!

We'll meet up in Royal Oak and Detroit and take the train to Ann Arbor. Learn about our organizations, and what's in the works for expanded transit options in greater Detroit. See firtshand the route that will make up the region's expanded inter-city rail service, serving Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Wayne/Metro Airport, Dearborn and Detroit, with possible expansion to Oakland County. After arriving in Ann Arbor, we'll explore Kerrytown and Downtown, stopping at local restaurants and bars along the way, and returning back to Detroit and Royal Oak later that night.

To participate:

1. Purchase your tickets directly from Amtrak - 1-800-USA-Rail.  You'll want to take train #355 departing either Royal Oak at 5:30pm or Detroit at 5:50pm to Ann Arbor, and return on train #354 from Ann Arbor at 11:30pm.  Tickets may be available for as little as $15 round trip.

2. Email TRU at TRUmember@DetroitTransit.org to let us know you're coming.

3. Be at the train station Saturday evening about 15 minutes early.  Bring your tickets, your ID and money for dinner and drinks in Ann Arbor.

And we'll see you on the train!
